Geoplaces

“Guide.”

Geoplaces are especially handy when you would like to be alerted/notified about arrivals/departures of your IoT devices in specific areas on the map.

Basically, this feature allows you to keep an eye on the movement of allocated devices in the selected area.

Geoplaces are visible in the Tracing dashboard under the group it was created.

Step 1

In order to use Geoplaces select the group, you want to work with and go to “Group management“, tab “Geoplaces“.

Step 2

Once you open the Geoplaces tab you get to see certain empty fields, a world map, and a table of already created Geoplaces.

To start with a new Geoplace enter the “Area name“, then you can enter the exact “Latitude“, “Longitude” and “Radius” if you have coordinates or simply hit the “Hand” icon at the top left corner on the map and search the location on the map with mouse. Scroll up and down to zoom in or out.

Once the location found, go back to the top left corner and this time select the other “Dot” icon which is used for drawing the circle area on the map. Simply click on the map and draw the area.

Based on your preferences you can select the option “Include subgroups“, then the Geoplace will be applied to the whole group level.

Note: Optionally you can enter the address.

Step 3

Once the area is drawn, hit the button Add/Update. A validation message appears and a new Geoplace is added to the table below the map.

Geoplace can be edit anytime later by simply clicking the “Pen” icon called “Edit” or remove by clicking the “Bin” icon.

Usage of Geoplaces

As already mentioned above, Geoplaces can be combined with other I/O Frog features such as Tracing dashobard, Notifications, or even tags.

In the Tracing dashboard, you can see all existed Geoplaces in the group. As per our example, we already had a Geoplace named Praha (circle roughly around the borders of Prague) and inside there you can see another Geoplaces created in this guide called Karlín.

However, the most important feature that uses Geoplaces is Notifications. In order to set up a notification rule for arrival or departure, please follow a Notification rules guide.
